How to Fix Unable to Copy and Paste to Remote Desktop Session

How to Fix Unable to Copy and Paste to Remote Desktop Session

Unable to Copy and Paste is a serious matter for remote desktop users. It’s easy to move files for us from client desktop to remote desktop. but it’s not possible all time, we are unable to Copy and Paste sometimes for server configuration and from client settings.

Remote Desktop Protocol ( RDP ) is a proprietary network protocol from Microsoft for remote access to computers . It enables the transmission of graphic screen contents from a remote computer system and the provision of peripheral functions of a workstation (keyboard, mouse, audio input / output, video input and session-related data exchange such as text buffers ( clipboard ), printer coupling and file system provision ). The protocol defines the cooperation between a server component (in MS Windows Remote Desktop Services , formerlyTerminal Services ) and the client component. The service listens to the standard on port 3389 / TCP and 3389 / UDP . The use of UDP transmission is added to Microsoft from Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 (RDP version 8), but is not absolutely necessary.

How to Remove RDP Connection Cache from the Registry?

RDP Cache

Remote Desktop Protocol is a proprietary protocol developed by Microsoft which provides a user

with a graphical interface to connect to another computer over a network connection. The user

employs RDP client software for this purpose, while the other computer must run RDP server

For every successful connection, the RDP client stores the connection details for the machine that

you have connected to. This is often convenient, but if you are on a public machine, it can expose

sensitive security details. The RDP client does not give any way to clear the cached connection

Clear the RDP Cache from the registry using RegEdit

To clear cache in RDP, Run the Registry Editor (regedit.exe) and browse to the registry key

\Microsoft\Terminal Server Client;

There are two registry keys here that need to be cleared:

      • Default – Has the history of the last 10 RDP Connections.
      • Servers – This contains a list of all the Remote Desktop connections that have ever been established from this machine.
    • Expand the Default Key which will contain the most recently used connections. You can delete every entry or select which ones you want to remove
    • ★ Select the entries that you want to remove, right-click and click delete
    • Now expand the Servers key, this contains the details of all the RDP connections that have ever been made from this machine, including the username used to connect
    • ★  There may be many entries, it is easier to delete the entire server’s key, than recreate it.
    • ★  Finally, delete the default.rdp file found in your homepath. This is a hidden file and will not show or delete by default. You have to supply an extra switch to the delete command
    • Use command: del /ah %homepath%\documents\default.rdp
    • ★  Windows also save the recent Remote Desktop connections in Jump Lists. If you type (mstsc) in the
    • Windows 10 search box, the previously used RDP connections will appear in the list. You can completely
    • disable Windows 10 recent file and location in Jump list with the registry dword
    • parameter Start_TrackDocs in the reg key
    • (et it to 0), or you can clear the Recent Items lists by deleting files in the directory
    • %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations

How to Open Ports on Windows Server (VPS or Dedicated Server)

Open Ports on Windows

A port is the part of a network address that causes the assignment of TCP and UDP connections and

data packets to server and client programs by operating systems. Each connection of these two

protocols has two ports, one on the client and one on the server.

Steps to Open Ports on Windows Server –

    • First, open Control Panel and navigate to System & Security. Then, open Windows Firewall. In the left-hand menu, click “Advanced settings”.
    • The Advanced Security panel will appear. In the left-hand menu, there are two types of rules:
      • Inbound Rules: Rules that deny or allow traffic coming into the server from outside.
      • Outbound Rules: Rules that deny or allow traffic going out to the network from the server.
    • ★ Now create both an inbound rule and an outbound rule for your application’s port. Repeat the following steps 2 times, once for Inbound, and once for Outbound. First, right-click “Inbound Rules” and select “New Rule…”

    • ★Choose the type of rule to set up. We are defining a specific Port number.

    • Open Ports on Windows
    • ★Type the port number your application uses (that port you want to open for windows), and choose TCP or UDP protocol (most applications use TCP).
    • Open Ports on Windows

    • ★Select whether to apply the rule only on local (private) networks, or on public networks as well. You will want to select Public, most likely.

    • ★Finally, select whether this rule is for explicitly allowing connections on this port, or explicitly blocking connections on this port.
    • That’s it!

How to Fix the OBS Capture Window Black Screen Issue

OBS Capture Window Black Screen

In OBS Studio (Open Broadcaster Software), the capture window allows you to capture what is being displayed on your screen. You can capture the footage from any window on your computer and include it in your stream broadcast.

You could use this to capture the footage from a game during a live playthrough, capture the footage from Photoshop when you’re streaming your work in progress art, or capture the footage from some software as you stream a live tutorial for it.

OBS Studio makes it easy to capture your window and this can all be set up with just a few clicks (click “Add Source” and follow the prompts). However, sometimes OBS Studio breaks, preventing your window from being captured properly or making it so that you can’t see (and confirm) what footage is being broadcast. So here We have fix for that OBS capture window black screen issue.

Steps to fix OBS Capture Window Black screen :-

    • Click the three horizontal dots in the right-hand corner of Chrome to open the menu.

    • Under Advanced, find the category called “System” (it’s near the bottom).
